PILATES & BALLET BARRE

Pilates

Pilates based exercises work with control and precision. Focus is on deep-muscular strength, accurate form in movement, correcting muscle imbalance and creating an aligned posture.  Sessions are matched to your needs, working with your unique form and developing the training as you do.

Introductory, intermediate and advance levels are all catered for. Every programme is bespoke to each individual including those recovering from injury; those wishing for a more challenging body regime; or for those who are looking for a more mindful and rehabilitating practice.

Ballet Barre

Ballet Barre is a blend of strengthening exercises which builds form, enforces good posture and conditions the body.  Using the barre we work to gain flexibility, increase our range of movement and strengthen muscles focusing on form, which in turn aids postural alignment.  A session will work with flow and precision, using a combined training of Pilates, yoga and dance based movement. Sessions can be structured to meet a goal or work towards a final flowing routine. A body which is graceful in movement and elegant in posture is a natural by-product.

“I train six or seven times per week and do a mix of running, cycling and weights, but rarely take the time to stretch properly after my workouts. My weekly Pilates session with Sophie targets all the right muscles, especially my tight hip flexors and stiff leg muscles. I used to think that Pilates was mainly stretching, but Sophie’s classes are definitely a challenging workout. She adapts the class to the levels of the participants, and will always give different options for each exercise. The most difficult options are genuinely challenging and exactly what I look for in a Pilates class. I come away every week feeling that I have both strengthened my muscles and been able to do some much needed stretching.”
