HOW CAN WE STOP NEGATIVE THINKING?
THE 3 R’S
First we need to RECOGNISE how our negative thinking manifests in order to replace it.
It’s a difficult step because it requires us to challenge our current thinking, thinking which we believe is true. This necessitates perseverance.
Second we need to REPLACE the thinking by reframing it.
Our negative thinking is interpretational and impacts how we perceive things.
We assign the negative thought, event or situation with its meaning thus it is in your power to change it to something which benefits you.
Turn it into its opposite.
Thirdly we need to Reinforce by:
Continuing to RECOGNISE negative thinking;
Repeatedly REPLACING the negative thought;
Understanding the MEANING behind reoccurring negative thoughts.
